Jobs...jobs...

Even though I don't know what I'll be doing after I graduate in May, I'm looking for a part-time job now just to make some money during the school year. I applied to the Staybridge Suites hotel near my apartment. The woman there told me they are always hiring for part-time positions, but didn't know exactly which positions were being hired for at this time. It could be a while til I find out anything about that job. Then I read in the school paper that Ruby Tuesday is hiring for all positions right now. Since it's close to my apartment also, I figured it might be a good idea. I've worked in a restaurant before, but it's been four years. Working in a restaurant wouldn't be my first choice anyway, but it's a job :) So I'll turn in my application tomorrow and hopefully land a part-time to make some money.
I'd probably be pretty well off even if I don't get a job this school year. In the three years past I have not had a job during school and have had to make car payments, so by the end of the year I have been getting nervous about whether I'll have enough money to drive home in May! It's funny and upsetting at the same time. However, thanks to the HAIL of a hailstorm Los Alamos had in June which made my car look like it has cellulite, I received a nice check from our insurance company that will pay off the rest of my car payments :) I decided to take the money rather that get my car fixed, being that my car isn't new (10 years old) and I still think she's pretty. It's the inside that counts. It will be nice to not have to see $120 disappear from my checking account each month.
So that hailstorm helped, but I would still like to start saving up money for after graduation, and possibly a Vegas trip in the semi-near future and/or a spring break trip...I'm a senior after all, I have to celebrate my last year of college! It seems like I'm the only one who hasn't been to Vegas yet! And I would like to have a spring break trip to the beach somewhere. I'm not asking for much, am I ? :)

One time out a company I was working at had some painters "apparently" spray paint a building while our cars were in the parking lot, so everyone who had a car in the lot got some $. I think I got $900 for a paint job, I used that money to go to Baja and kiss gray whales. The teeny bit of paint on my 10 year old car came off with rubbing compound.
